An article examining the limited enforcement and lack of ratification of the Escazú Agreement by key countries - a legally binding treaty aimed at protecting the environment and its defenders in Latin America and the Caribbean. In the absence of strong state action, the report highlights how real progress is being driven from the ground up by grassroots movements and media alliances, such as the Black and Indigenous Liberation Movement (BILM), which unite communities across the Americas to resist extractivism and demand environmental justice.
